Wild About Vancouver is a collective of volunteers. Everyone is encouraged to get involved. Here are the current volunteer roles we need your help with. We are looking for a volunteer Website Developer to help us with updating and improving the Wild About Vancouver website. 

Qualifications:

  • – HTML/Wordpress Skills
    – Experience with the development of plug-ins and extensions to enhance our current WordPress website, particularly the ability to create an interactive map.
    – reliable and organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills, internet-savvy.-

Deliverables and duties:

  • – Work with the WAV team to keep the website updates and user-friendly
    – Develop plug-ins or extensions to improve the WAV website

Time Period:
2-10 h/week (estimate, somewhat flexible), ongoing, minimum until April 2017, further involvement beyond April may be less hours per week. Work can be done at home, however check-ins with the WAV team will be required. [/restab]

We are looking for Social Media Volunteers to assist with the upcoming Wild About Vancouver Outdoor Education Festival (WAV) running April 18-25th, 2018.

Social Media Volunteers will assist the WAV team by contributing and monitoring the various social media streams leading up to and during the festival.

Qualifications:

  • –  Experience with social media, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
    –  High energy, enthusiastic and a creative thinker.
    –  Marketing, communication and/or public relations experience would be considered an asset.
    –  Passion for the outdoors and education.
    –  Works well as part of a team as well as individually.
    –  Attention to detail.

Deliverables and duties:

  • – Work with our Social Media and Publicity Chairs to develop material for WAVs various social media streams.
    – Monitor specific social media streams.

Time Period:
Approximately 3-5 hours a week with potential increase during festival week. Work can be done at home, however weekly check-ins with the WAV team will be required. [/restab]

We are looking for Volunteers to join the Festival Media Team for the upcoming Wild About Vancouver Outdoor Education Festival (WAV) running April 18-25th, 2018.

Festival Media Team Volunteers will assist WAV by visiting festival events to take pictures, videos and short interviews.

Qualifications:

  • – Experience with photography or videography
    – Experience with social media, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
    – High energy, enthusiastic and a creative thinker
    – Marketing, communication and/or public relations experience would be considered an asset
    – Passion for the outdoors and education
    – Works well as part of a team as well as individually
    – Attention to detail
    – Ability to travel throughout city with ease would be an asset
    – Access to photography camera, video camera or camera phone

Deliverables and Duties:

  • – Work with our Social Media and Publicity Chairs to share WAV festival events.
    – Contribute to social media and website during festival week.
    – Be able to visit numerous festival events.

Time Period:
Approximately 4 hours/day for at least 3 days of the WAV festival.[/restab]

We are looking for a Media Assistant for the upcoming Wild About Vancouver Outdoor Education Festival (WAV) running April 18-25th, 2018.

The Media Assistant will assist the WAV Coordinator with the planning and execution of media.

Qualifications:

  • – Attention to detail
    – Excellent research skills
    – Works well independently
    – Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience necessary; database and website maintenance experience an asset
    – Knowledge of media in Vancouver (print, online, radio, TV, etc) an asset

Deliverables and Duties:

  • – Assist our WAV Coordinator with researching media contacts, timelines, and other media preparation
    – Take the lead on sending out media releases at the appropriate times

Time Period:
Approximately 10-15 hours total, over 3 months, with a commitment to see the project through. [/restab]

[restab title=”Assistant Coordinator”]

We are looking for a Assistant Coordinator  for the upcoming Wild About Vancouver Outdoor Education Festival (WAV) running April 22-30th, 2017.

The Assistant Coordinator will support the WAV Coordinator with promotion and donor research, community outreach, and event planning.

Qualifications:

  • – Enjoys building relationships with new people and organizations
    – Detail oriented with good time management skills
    – Work well independently, as well as with a team, especially with other volunteers
    – Computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience necessary; database and website maintenance experience an asset
    – Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism
    – Energetic and excited about creating positive change
    – Excellent written and verbal communications skills
    – Passion for the outdoors and education

Deliverables and duties:

  • – Assist our WAV Coordinator with preparing for Wild About Vancouver
    – Able to connect with community members to promote WAV and build interest in groups/individuals to host events.

Time Period:
Approximately 2-5 hours/week with a 3 month commitment.[/restab]
